Captain John Debates Oldie or Newie

Good Morning,
(Ladies give me a quick second here I promised a fishing report to some male readers, unless of course you're a fishing chick.) Don't go nowhere I got something good for you.

At 5am we got in a jalopidated (my own word) piece of shit boat, and tonged 6 sacks (225 per sack) of oysters in 2 hours. Me and a 72 year old man, by ourselves. It's a beautiful day when you absorb 60 years of experience from a willing participant in a day. He kept all the oysters, and I worked for no money, just info. To top it off, as we returned, we immediately sold our day's catch, $30 a sack, to a bar who was having a crawfish team boiling competition today.
Bull Reds are jumping in the boat right now, and I can only stay a moment this morning, gotta get right back to it. Water temperature is 74 degrees, the outgoing tide is dragging bait fish from the marsh, out to the gulf. Live or dead shrimp will put your gear to the test. Listen up now, I'm fishing with a 9ft St. Croix rod, 14# red Cajun wire, a 1/4 oz weight, #2 Eagle Claw, and a Penn reel custom rigged by experience. I'll have to get some pictures of the knot, a weighted free line, if you know what I mean? Let me know if you are interested.
Fish are caught in this temperature in 4ft or less of water on the flats, they are struggling trying to get to warmer water. This week or next I expect the trout, THE BIG TROUT, to be feeding amongst the schools of Red fish. They tend to stay in the 4-5lb range when they feed like that. Don't forget we're in the saltwater and you never know whatcha going to catch. Yesterday it was a 3ft Sailcat, the most beautiful thing I ever saw. We cooked none, many happy fish, we are Catch and Release. My son can catch that one when he gets back from boot camp.

The younger generation who have commented on the oldie but goodies that I have led you to, spiked my interest this week. I love your reaction to Pink Floyd. I want to attempt to show you why the oldies are the goodies.

A new artist has harnessed the talents of the best female country singer in the world, in my humble opinion. Patsy Cline has been gone a long time, but her talents will live on through the keen ear of a young artist.
This is from a series called Stripped. No electronics what so ever, except the mics and the lights, the way it should be.
I rarely approve of a remake, especially a Patsy Cline remake, but this is one helluva an exception.
I believe Patsy would approve too, because good is good, and great is great!
A Newie and Oldie combined, how's that for a compromise?

What do ya'll think? Talk to me!
The ice is melting in my cooler, I'll see you later. I'm heading Due South.
Semper Fi,
Captain John

What the hell is jalopidated? Can you tell he felt a little out of place on this boat? He made me wait to watch the video he found, and what a great one. This one's staying in my mixpod, you rock it girl. Love, love, love this version. It's important that you know he worked this post in his fishing schedule this morning ya'll, and I am shocked guys that he shared the whole rigging info with you. Feel special, he never does this. The only fishing I have done is out of a canoe in my grandparents like. I think there are only Sunfish in it! Your life is so freaking different then mine up here! But, would love to experience...

That stinks about the red wine stains. I can't relate so much though since I'm a white wine girl :)

Have a great Sunday night and Monday xx

Fishing with the Captain....what a cool girl you are!! What a fab experience!!

THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH for the fabulous comments you left on my blog and for the amazing things you said about me here....I did laugh out loud at you cursing all those girls who were already following me and hadn't told you....2lbs on their thighs indeed!!! Very funny!

I am LOVING your blog, love the way you express yourself....think I'm gonna like it here :)

PS I thought that was Denise Richards too....I had to read your blog twice before I realised it was the gorgeous Doutzen.....shame on those girls for not telling you! I posted a close-up a few months back and swore it was Kate Moss....several people then told me that it was Gywneth Paltrow....but at least they told me!!

Happy Monday to you honey, you made my day with your enthusiasm about my blog, I really appreciate it.

Simone :)

PS. I totally "get" the meaning of jalopidated and have actually heard that word used many times before. That made me "LOL" to see it typed out, haha!
