Tickled Pink To Be A Pink Lady!

Holly over at 504 Main, has crowned me The Tickled Pink Lady today, and although it's a very sad day for me, I'm gonna explain and then turn up the frown for my new visitors.

Hi, Come on in, I'm Lisa aka as The Bumpkin. It slips every now and again, and I let it for authenticity, but for the most part, I'm really not a bumpkin, other than geographically. Bumpkin is My Captain John's pet name from me. This Chicago native got trapped by a Mississippi Girl, and was teased a little by his friends, so yes, it's a pet name, and I am okay with that.

The swing is located 1000 yards from The Gulf of Mexico on The Mississippi Gulf Coast. Yes, the oil will wash up on my beach (I have lived here 39 years, so yes it's my beach) today. It breaks my heart. Captain John and I are Animal Welfare Activists and have a huge heart for dolphins and sea turtles. Without going into the gory details, we are absolutely crushed about what has happened to our ocean and our wildlife. As a Captain, John has been especially concerned about the birds on the barrier islands. I'm sure you saw them swimming in oil, and dying while the network cameramen, just stood there and filmed them yesterday. Go visit Captain John's button over there on my sidebar, to hear the truth, from someone who really knows firsthand. He's not all nice and sweet about it either, this is our livelihood, and we are devastated. My readers and I simply ask one thing from the powers that be, whatever yours is. We simply say, swim, swim, swim, fly, fly, fly, can you wish or pray that for me today?

It's a nice pleasant thought, but the reason for this is heartbreaking, our government and BP have killed the Gulf of Mexico, why would they ever drill this deep if the did not have a plan for this emergency, we are helpless, yesterday they made the leak twice as bad. Let's let this be for now, it's suppose to be all smiles today. So here we go!
Here at the swing, you are gonna find a little fashion.....

You may on occasion find a pair of shoes or two in a post around here. My readers, are busting out laughing right this second. I hear you all, don't make me break out the thigh voodoo, we have company today, ya'll be good.
They're laughing because they know that the Bumpkin will throw down on some shoes, in a Mississippi second. (Pun intended of course)

Valentino anyone?

One thing I share with my readers, is my love for photography, not just those everyday clicks, but the really special ones.

I love quotes, I have journals full of them I have kept for years. I'll share a few with you throughout the post today.

I have the best readers and followers, no really, wait to you meet them, you'll love them. We keep it real! If I feel I say it, if they feel they say it, and I wouldn't want it any other way.
Be careful not to get them stirred up boy, they can be a tough bunch!

We have things like, Heinie Tingles (who's that blogger Diva), and Fashion Orgasms.

Do you know C Lou? This is referred to as a Shoegasm, here at the swing.

Wednesday's are Wordless Wednesdays, nothing but fabulous images I steal shamelessly. Click HERE to see some from the past.

We've even been known to do a little baking. See the button on the sidebar?

My readers and I had a good laugh recently, when I lost a follower due to racy pics.

Incidentally all images came from my Tumblr page, do you Tumbl? If you do, please find me there, by clicking HERE.

Much that I have learned, and share came from a few lovely ladies, that I call My Fashion Divas. From Dallas to Australia, and all points in between. These ladies know their fashion, and have shared so much with me. Stick around and I'll show you the ropes.

How about one more for the road?

Ya'll come back and see me, pinkie swear?
And don't forget.....Swim, Swim, Swim, Fly, Fly, Fly...Promise me you won't forget.

This was a lot of fun, now before I go,
Here's a kiss on one cheek.....

Now turn, and another on the other!
Love,
The Bumpkin

So many beautiful pink pictures today, friend!
But I am so saddened to hear that the oil is reaching you. Every time I see the tv coverage of this, I feel so helpless that it brings me to tears.

My heart hurts for all those poor animals whose homes and lives are being destroyed by this catastrophe.

I'm off to visit Captain John now.

Another fun, pink filled post. As a lover of all things pink, I am tickled pink. Love the Audrey Hepburn quote.

My thoughts/prayers are with you all. Such a terrible tragedy. :(

I either know current trends and fashions or I am fried (as in fired). You'll be my first and probably only fashion blog. But it's because I think you have something more to say. And my blog roll is so super duper sweet I NEED a little racy!:) Good luck today dude, I don't even really know what to say but that. My heart is with you all. I wish I could do that Superman trick were you fly around the world a couple times super fast and turn back time. I suspect we are only seeing half a percent of the impact on us. Poor critters, I wish I could help.

Wow. Wow. Wow. Holly thank you. I'm thanking Holly for the reason I have found you. Your blog is...spectacular. I love it. And congrats on Holly's feature. I opened your blog and literally I just sat there stunned for awhile. From your header photo, to everything single photo you have posted to your writing. It's love for me. And on the BP thing and the heartbreak. I'm a born and raised Monterey Peninsula girl with a love of the ocean in my veins and
my heart is breaking along with your for the wildlife. I have been blown away from the beginning by disregard for the damage that is being done. Our oceans were grossly polluted enough before all of this and now. When are we going to be better stewards of the earth?
I could go on forever about this, but I want to say thank you to you and your Captain for what you are doing for the animals. How do people just stand by and watch? I can never understand it. It's not even being covered, really what is going on to the animals underneath the surface and the damage that is being done.

Oh, Bumpkin, I am wiping away tears reading this. I have spent five years angry and questioning the why's of Katrina, and just when I felt at peace, in washes the oil. And the why's return. Keep telling us the truth - we NEED to hear it.

As for your Yves quote - I love him. You would have been in Bumpkin heaven at his exhibit in Paris. I thought about you the whole time. I thought I had a heart for fashion before seeing the exhibit, but being able to stand in the same room with his creations made me realize that it is art!

Sending you lots of love today!

You do a marvelous job (like I was expecting anything less) with this post. I was going to touch on the devastation in the Gulf, but couldn't figure out how to do it justice in my post....I am so glad you did here...you said it eloquently!

I adore all of those images...even the racy ones! Thank you for letting me tickle you pink!

Oh Bumpkin, this is a wonderful post. Keep telling us what Capt John sees.
Oh, I am so ANGRY, saddened, FURIOUS, crying, DEVASTATED, crushed, let down by our government, feeling helpless, & did I mention angry? I feel all those horrible PTSD waves coming back, rolling over me and drowning me yet once again. I have spent these 5 years struggling to overcome PTSD that settled in as the Katrina aftermath was worse then the storm itself.
And yes, our homes values are about to sink into the deep dark abyss of no return I fear.
But we'll hang in there and try to do what we can. I am so glad to have found you...
xoxo!

A fabulous post!! You are just too cute my friend!
You know my heart breaks everytime I hear or read anything about this tragic disaster. So sad, yet so unbelievable that this is continuing to go on with the powers that be, just shrugging their shoulders, utterly unbelievable!
I hope you are having a wonderful weekend despite all the horrible circumstances.
My thoughts, as always, are with you, your John and our sweet friends, the dolphins!

It's so so sad what is happening down there. I can't bare to watch anything because I will lose it seeing those poor animals =( I am in total agreeance with you...don't drll if you aren't prepared for something to go wrong! Ugh its so frustrating.

Then on top of all of those helpless animals, there are all of the wonderful people being hurt by this. I'll be thinking of you and the whole Gulf Cost.

On the brighter side, lovely pics! I adore the pig balloons =)

My heart breaks for all of those poor animals who have been hurt by this catastrophe. I watched a special last night on 20/20 and it was just heartbreaking. I pray for them all every day. Simply too tragic for words.
