Day 69~Our Day of Doom
The oil completely inundated our Coast yesterday. It even filled our bays. Captain John, and all the boats were sent home yesterday as this was happening, due to some red tape error in the location of the decontamination station. Poor planning, lack of execution, lack of education, lack of determination, I could go on, and on, about the problems, but what good would that do? I would imagine he has already said what needed to be said to the proper people this morning. It's a different feeling when it's washing in on our beaches, than some place even miles down the road. We lost, and that's not his style.
He was beside himself every second he was onshore yesterday. He wanted to do something so bad. He couldn't believe we had 69 days to prepare for this, and he was doing nothing as it came in.
Many Coast residents are very curious to know what this is? They are so secretive we want to know for ourselves. Where would you get something like this tested? Anybody have a clue. Alarming to say the least. Can you believe I still saw kids swimming in the water yesterday on Biloxi Beach, the closed Biloxi Beach. I think their parents should be arrested for child endangerment, playing with the oil, pretending it was suntan oil.
WARNING WARNING
THIS IS THE ONLY ONE I AM POSTING, I KNOW THIS REALLY UPSETS SOME OF YOU, BUT I WANT YOU TO FEEL IT FROM YOUR SOUL. CAN'T IGNORE IT, GOTTA KEEP THE FIGHT GOING! YOU KNOW IT'S STILL PUMPING LIKE OLE FAITHFUL OUT THERE, THIS ISN'T THE END!
Booms failed miserably. Silk ones, fancy ones, cheap ones, they all failed. The seas will be really rough for the next 48 hours due to Tropical Storm Alex passing below us. Big waves will only make this work. We need a new game plan, and new leaders to implement the game plans. Enough red tape. We all may know a Captain who went out this morning, madder than hell, with a lead, follow, or get the hell out of my way attitude. He doesn't like losing.
This little guy is freaking out, you forget about the little ones...
and what this is doing to them.
Picture taken Friday, there is still hope. We can pull them, we just gotta get to em'. They are hard to catch.
Let's end this post, with a brighter moment why don't we. Do you see him in the picture below?
Doing what we can do, is all we can do. Keep it going for me please, they are still out there.
Swim, Swim, Swim, Fly, Fly, Fly.............
Pray for My Captain.
Love,
The Bumpkin

uggghhh..... there just are no words for the sense of despair and anger and hopelessness that just keeps getting worse each day!
This is heartbreaking. Just heartbreaking. I pray something is done soon. So very sad.
this is just compleatly heartbreaking
UNFREAKINBELIEVABLE! Yes, I know these beach towns need money but you're right.. the water should be closed.
I had friends in Destin over the weekend and they were clueless how bad it was until they go there.
prayers..prayers.. and more prayers..
I think it's going to take a miracle.
wow. i just can't believe it. i feel so helpless as i sit here and read this knowing that things just keep getting worse and there seems to be no real end in sight. i just can't believe it's gone on this long! and those kids playing in the oil!!! what were their parents thinking?!?!? obviously they must not have been. i keep praying for the leak to stop so cleanup can truly begin.
This just breaks my heart. These images are so surreal. I can't believe it has come to this. That little turtle at the end left me with a smile, so thank you Bumpkin.
Have a great week,
Marcie

I don't even know what to say. There are no words coming out. Just heartbreaking. I will be praying. That turtle is a sign of hope.
This is so heartbreaking. Sending a lot of prayers your way.
Greetings Bumpkin,
I am incredibly saddened for you both and the poor life that use to call these shores home.
Something good just has to come out of this tragedy/catastrophe, it simply has to.
My prayers are always with you both, cheers my friend.
This is just shocking. Too awful for words.

Oh my God this is sick. I feel horrible - thank you so much for the detailed description of the truth though. We (the public) need to know, understand and be affected by what is happening with this gusher. I'm so sorry.
I have tears in my eyes. And Alex is gonna churn this shit up. I am so sad. But, still praying. Keep it up Capt....YOU are far from failing. Thanks for all you do. Every.day.
Oh my God, this is really...I don't know, I'm lacking of words. I live in Europe and unfortunately this seems so far away from here, so people tend to forget about it, but everytime i see photos like yours in the news I am reminded of what is going on over there.
And I cannot hear the statements of BP anymore, they are so impertinent to say the least! I couldn't believe their press officer said they didn't do anything wrong. Hello?! Unbelievable... and so sad! I hope you people over there are all strong enough and that nature will endure this. I believe all these rude oil company whatever people burn in hell someday :-/
YAY!!!!!!!!!! The sight of the turtle made me smile so very much. Thank you for giving us some hope...although I know that hope is very slim right now.
I am so far away from you, but still so very terrified. Because we all will suffer for this. And we don't know what to do. And it's getting worse.
I was thinking yesterday, as I was out on the CLEAN water in the mountains, what can I do to help? I don't know enough to have a solution. If the captain, with all of his knowledge and skill and equipment, can't fix this then what in the world can I do? Can I write a check? Can I simply pray?
I just want so terribly to do something.
Hi sweetheart, great to hear your voice yesterday as always. Glad I got to hear it straight from John as well. Poor guy, he sounded so frustrated. I just hope they can regroup and get a new plan formulated, a REAL plan with the RIGHT guys in charge, especially John. I am so excited to see the picture of the turtle, thank you for thank, lifted my heart greatly this afternoon. John must have been ecstatic. Call me later - Love you xoxo
Thank you for *that* - sorry! xox
That is just terrible, my heart goes out to you and everyone else <3

Oh Lisa ~ my heart goes out to you and John. It just sucks ~ sorry ~ blunt old me. I will continue to keep the entire coast in my thoughts and prayers but most of all you my sweet girl and all of the little creatures... Swim, Swim, Swim ~ Fly, Fly, Fly
Oh you guys, this is so so awful, bit hard to type with tears in your eyes. Everyone feels so helpless, and for you guys its so terribly painful...all the time.
You are in our thoughts and prayers sweetheart...to the Captian, hang in there, I loved loved the picture of the turtle, what a beauty.

Bumpkin - thank you for the kind words re: my writing. Sometimes I fear people might think I'm nuts...but I didn't call that blog this free bird for nothin'.
I have to say the fireworks/fishing rodeo thing just has me fuming!! The morons behind running it are prolly being paid by the gov't and bp to "keep up a good front" - it insults my intelligence ALL THE WAY OVER HERE so I can't even imagine what it's doing to all of you down there. UGH
I'm mortified by this entire fiasco!!! If they light fireworks over that massive oil spill I'm gonna get my broom out and do a fly by!! complete with fishing nets! if i can rescue a few cats i can certainly get some fish and such in a net to safety. :(:(
Praying for you and your captain. This is all too sad to grasp. Hugs for you!
Bumpkin, I felt so awful for you when I heard that the oil had reached MS shores.
Every day I am more sickened than the next by this situation.
I am happy that your Captain has been hired and that people with real experience are being utilized. Thank goodness for people like you two.
Our government is completely paralysed because we are led by an inexperienced man who knows nothing. Everyone call your representatives in DC. Call everyone you know. Demand the government of the USA take charge of this mess, accept help from whereever it comes. We need the entire world's help on sucking the oil off our waters, our lands and out of our citizens lives, lives who will be destroyed altogether if we do not take control. BP doesn't have enough $$ or manpower to solve the very problem they created. We need to quit being sheep, raise our voices and demand action.
Bumpkin ~
Prayers, hope, wishes, and more are there for you, your Captain, and our beloved MOTHER and her sweet inhabitants. God, I'm sickened.

Wow, horrific and touching all at once.
Oh my goodness this is hearbreaking!! Those poor animals, and I can't believe the audacity of those parents for letting their children swim in the water!!!
As always my heart is with you, and forever grateful for everything that you and the captain are endeavoring to do to help the conservation!!
:) Hazel
PS I've given you an award on my blog today... hopefully it draws more people to your site and the great work that you are doing!!
