Saw this dress in some engagement photos yesterday paired with cowboy boots.
Can this be done in Mississippi or do you think that look is just for mid-western ladies?

How could I put an island/beach spin on this plaid? We have so many seafood festivals, gumbo cookoffs, fishing rodeos, where we are forced to bake in the sun, I think this would be perfect for such an event. Cool, loose and breezy.

In the Southern Lady Simply Southern (cooking and entertaining, special collector's issue 2009) ...the editor, Andrea Fanning, is pictured wearing a darling casual dress (with flowers instead of plaid). She has paired it with a wide brown leather belt and oh-so-cute cowboy boots and she is an Alabama native...still living there. I like your idea.

I say get the blue plaid one (it's ocean colors will give that coastal vibe your looking for and I posted a picture of it on my blog if you'd like to see it "in person")and pair it with some pretty espadrilles that wrap around the ankle and of course, have the photos taken on the beach! Should be perfection! If you need help finding the shoes - you know where I'm at!

I went to school in Alabama (AU) and grew up in Atlanta - and I would totally wear that with some cute cowboy boots!!
If you want to take away from some of the plaid-ness, i would put a cute lacy tank under it and unbutton it a few buttons. Maybe even wear a cute floral choker necklace.
I like the belt idea too.
