Consumed by the Mrs.

All photos taken by the amazing Annie Leibovitz, for Vogue March 2008 entitled Rebel Romance:

Carrie in Lanvin tipped with Christian Louboutins, Big in Valentino, Hugo Boss & Tom Ford

I have finished all 6 seasons + The Sex And The City Movie, your opportunity for spoilers has passed. An epic series of the oldest story in the world for a woman, the quest for and consumption of the Mrs. In the end Mr. Big, his name was John. A gasp of a coincidence readers, a gasp. I would bet you at least $100 had this been The Captain and I; I would have had a beat him with the bouquet moment, and it would have ended in a drag by the hair. Bet you. I'm serious the exact same way. He's a simple man, I'm extravagant, not to be confused with eccentric.

Carrie in Narciso Rodriguez's

This not being a Mrs. troubled me much more around the cusp of 4-0. Spinsters, that's what Mamma said about the women over forty who were still single. Never married. Do you know that's what it would say on my death certificate if I died today? Never married. I know love in its rawest of forms, but Mrs., completely unchartered waters for The Bumpkin that fell in love with that guy. Horrible divorce, never again, not if my life depended on it, period end of discussion.

Carrie in Nina Ricci dress and shoes, Big in Ford and Valentino Again

It is hugely noted that when this troubled me the most, I found him on one knee Christmas (4 days before 40) morning, ring in hand, stumbling through words he had never said before. Oh he was married, but she told me he never proposed, and it was a huge sore spot for her their entire marriage. At least I was awarded the proposal.

Even though, we have been together 8 years, marriage just seems like the light at the end of the tunnel. Why? What will change? Why is the freaking Mrs. so important?
I feel, though he swears it's not the case, that I forced him into the ring, with my pre-40 tears of despair. The whole spinster attitude, he even had the ceremony semi-planned for the day of my 40th so that I wouldn't have to wear the label. No way, not enough time to even let it sink in, and my wedding is not being thrown together in 4 days. I want a dress and some shoes, but not much else will be required, a cake, some flowers, a great dinner with some friends, a night at a fancy schmancy hotel, and the rest I will leave to both yours and my own imagination.
Carrie in Violet Marchessa, and C Lou's again, smart girl.
I'm going to let it come in it's own time,Dakota (Cody), My John's son, will have his Marine Dress Blues (Like Father like Son) in a little over 2 years, and that uniform could be a nice accessory for the wedding pictures. I am certain that it will be a memorable affair, simply because of it's nature, but I also want it to be something he, My Mr. Big, will enjoy. I am certain that some big affair would end for me, as it did Carrie, in disaster, although I would consider the beating with the flowers as getting off a bit easy.
Carrie in the late Alexander McQueen peacock and tulle

My biggest disappointment, is that I need that Mrs. to make me feel complete. Yuck, not the type of woman I am at all. It's a name change that makes you someone else in the most literal way. Why is it that I need to change who I am so desperately? Why?
This my friends is going to be the focus for me, for a little while. Not needing it so badly. Then maybe, I will tighten the knot that is already there between us. We own a home together; five dogs, boats, vehicles, and we are very settled in our life as a couple. What else does a girl need?

Carrie in Dolce & Gabbana Chiffon

I do have one more need. It's a strong need.

A very strong need, a desperate need, a consuming need.

Carrie's Wedding Shoes were

Manolo Blahnik's Something Blue

A need for something blue, and these will do.

I either want to be married or buried in these shoes.

Whichever comes first!

The Oscars|Bumpkin Style

It was a blast over at Twitter this year, I laughed so hard I almost cried. Red Carpet Twitterganza I would say. I was getting 100-105 tweets in 2-3 minute time frames, and I'm really a nobody over there. Can't wait to do it again.
I'm going to make it easy, here's my Very Best, to the Very Very Worst, in order mind you.
Best Dressed!

Now it's just my opinion, but if I get one for Best Dressed.
Demi rocked it. Nude Versace Atelier, ruffles, Versace shoes , perfect wispy hair, natural with a touch of summer makeup, did I mention the Versace shoes, Salvatore Ferragamo clutch, oh and the diamonds. Demi is 47 ya'll, and as I always say Maybe 40 sucks, and MAYBE IT DOESN'T!!

Penelope Cruz in Donna Karan. Latin Beauty at it's best. Now, all kidding aside, is part of the appeal with this dress because it perfectly matches the carpet and drapes? Really, it does, looks as if the set was built in her honor. If you watched her live, she worked that runway girls, she worked it. Camera's didn't turn away till she was a speck of Crimson.

Cameron Diaz in Oscar de la Renta, lucky for her. A brave move by the stylist, with the lips and fingernails in slut whore red. It worked though, style at it's best. I'm not so crazy about Cameron, I still see her as the bride in My Best Friend's Wedding, singing that one song; you know the one.

Best Dressed At The After Party

Katy Perry in Zuhair Marad. I think this is what we all strive for everyday when we stand in the mirror, and perform our routines. Perfection, and the dress is just a dress here, the lady holds the beauty. Great dress, but still.........oh yeah, and the bracelet, I forget to see the diamonds, purses, and shoes, takes me a day or two to get over the dresses. But yes I see the ruby red Dorothy shoes clutch there, I see it.

Honorable Mention

Elizabeth Banks in storm colored Versace. A beautiful girl, but could you imagine this on a redhead, breath taking.

Most Adorable Couple

Lenny Kravitz and his daughter Zoe, were right on the dime.
Old Hollywood style dress on the red carpet. Classy, Classy, Classy, and Daddy just oozes style in my opinion. Can you see her mother Lisa Bonet in her?

The Middle Ground
Great dress, bad color. I just don't think brunettes and gold go well together. She's was too pale, and ps what is it with the Grandma lipstick tonight, this shade is Revlon Ruby. Sandra Bullock in Marchesa.

Charlize Theron, in John Galliano.
Placing the roses there, yes or no? Sure is a lot of talk about her today. I just can't make up my mind, she is so beautiful? Was someone standing at the end of the red carpet with this freaking lipstick?

I love Sarah Jessica Parker, and I love Chanel, and that's all I am saying. **Cough** **Cough*** Carrie would barf!

WORST DRESSED
Now I'm all about Vintage Glam, but this is awful. Nicole Richie, these drapes just swallowed her away. Reem Acra is the designer, in my opinion Ream The Stylist would be more accurate.

Vera Farmiga in Marchesa. Now I love ruffles, but this is just way to ruffly okay. This is over the top ruffles, with Grandma's Avon Lipstick. No, No, NO! I was waiting for Charro to jump out and say Hoochie Coochie Coo!

Well, if it ain't Boobs Larue at The Oscars. When is this woman going to grow up? Your husband is 29, your'e not honey. At 40 they're a few things we must accept.
Mariah Carey. The dress is a Valentino, but a disaster in my opinion. Isn't the rule that you either show legs or bust, not everything including bulges? She is sucking it in so hard it's about to burst out somewhere.

Alright what else ya'll wanna know?

And I Quote....Stacy London

"Don't get hung up on the size. If you feel bad about yourself because a 12 is what fits, take a Sharpie, and write '6' on the label."~ Stacy London

Stacy is the co-host of TLC's What Not To Wear.

Favorite rule of thumb:
If it doesn't match anything you own, don't buy it. It will never match anything you own.

Favorite splurge item:
Shoes from Christian Louboutin. A girl will just never truly know what it means to be a flirt without them. They are pure sex on a stiletto.

About her favorite movie: "I love 'Scarface.' First of all, Michelle Pfeiffer's wardrobe in that movie was to die for. I know the entire screenplay. I basically could recite almost all the dialogue, which is disturbing, I realize. But I am sort of a teenage fanboy locked in a girl's body. I'm so into it -- guns and drugs and sex and long fingernails and satin jumpsuits ... what's not to love?"

A quick fashion fix:
A great pair of high heels; a good shade of lipstick; a stiff drink.

Stacy's biggest fashion pet peeve is anything Jennifer Lopez or Pink is wearing.

She is the co-author of Dress Your Best.

Her favorite shopping website is www.candycouture.com. Younger less know designers make top fashion affordable.

Her favorite designers are Yeojin Bae, Marc Jacobs, Chloe, Yves Saint Laurent,Mat and Nat (me too Stacy, My Mat and Nat purses are some of my favorites).

What's she most famous for.
A perfectly styled guise will get a memorable "Shut Up!"

When I was on the cusp of 40, someone suggested I look for famous women who were 40 to console myself a bit. Knowing that Stacy is 40 makes the fabulous attainable in my book.

I'm Loving It!

Saw this dress in some engagement photos yesterday paired with cowboy boots.

Can this be done in Mississippi or do you think that look is just for mid-western ladies?

Tell me oh wise fashion divas...........

How could I put an island/beach spin on this plaid? We have so many seafood festivals, gumbo cookoffs, fishing rodeos, where we are forced to bake in the sun, I think this would be perfect for such an event. Cool, loose and breezy.

You can buy the reed shirtdress from Anthopologie for $118.00.

(Ya'll are going be so proud of me for this)

Here is the link to the dress!

A Bumpkin Looks At Forty

Yes, that's correct in about 100 days The Bumpkin will be 40. Thoughts on 40, well, they aren't that good my bloggy friends. As a matter of fact, I would say they are actually depressing. Two years ago, I was hyped about 40, feeling I would surely be Fabulous Forty. Now it seems, Failure Forty is more accurate.
All those things I wanted to do, and didn't. Habits I should have broke, millions I should have made, pounds I should have lost, friends I should have treasured, milestones I should have put behind me, places I should have traveled to, books I should have written, all before 40. Those two numbers seem to be stalking me at this point. Open the closet, 4-0. Look in the mirror, 4-0. Balancing the checkbook, 4-0. Fall Fashions, 4-0. Career, 4-0. Reading, blogging, and even movies, 4-0.
It's everywhere this four-o. I have been translating these demonic numbers as Life= 4 decades... The Bumpkin= 0.
I know right this second you are all shouting, Paxil, Zoloft, Wellbutrin, Lexapro, Prozac, Effexor, Cymbalta, and Xanax. Maybe your'e right, maybe not. I guess I really am taking this hard, my naps seem to be more often, and last a little longer. Actually to be honest, it's more like "Screw it, I'll just head to bed instead." Depression is not a usual member of my circle of friends, but she's recently been promoted to BFF status.
I guess the biggest issue is my career, and maritial status that are really waying on me. As some of my regular readers know, I was down-sized from a great paying job in September of last year. Due to the economy, jobs are few and far between in South Mississippi nowadays. Jobs that pay that I was making virtually non-existent. The competition is ruthless. 300 resume's for every job posted. Casino's are on skeleton staff, and the rest are out there searching flooding the availability.
