Look What I Got!

The first time I saw it, I fell in love with the print. I decided to follow the blog, Bright, Bold, & Beautiful I loved the print that much. Then I found out the print was called Sex and the City, and it became a little obsession for me. Lastly, I got to know the lady behind the blog, Laura Trevey, the artist behind this watercolor, and it became a must have right now.

As I have mentioned previously to you, My John recently took our smallest bedroom and turned it in to a huge closet for me. A dressing room, with custom built shoe, handbag, and accessories shelving. Before he was a Captain, his title was Master Carpenter, and I'm a lucky girl. It's not quite done yet, but when it is, I will do a little looksie for you here at the swing.

It came time to paint the closet. I coordinated the paint, around this picture. A soft butter not quite yellow, but along the lines. The recesses are being painted the exact color blue of the dress above. Yes, I loved it that much.

Click
here
to go to Laura's Etsy shop, I'm not even going to tell you what all is there, go and see. Here's a hint, I love the blue shoe!

When I received the print in the mail it was even more spectacular as I could almost feel the ruffles of the red dress brushing against me. I am in search of the perfect sapphire frame.
Laura also enclosed a hand written note, that I will cherish from my time here in the blog world.

Happy Weekend,

I'm Loving It!~Friday Favorites

Favorite recipe of the week: Bananas Foster French Toast found over at Inn Cuisine one of my favorite recipe sites. This is what I'll be doing while ya'll are jamming with
The Captain on Sunday morning.
By the way, please leave him a comment if you drop by, I love the way he smiles when I read them to him. It's childlike almost. He asks me 20 times on Sunday, to check to see if he has comments.

Favorite color photo of the week: The photo itself is a great shot, as far as technical things go, but the release of a rehabilitated injured Kemp's Ridley Sea Turtle makes me cry. You know how we are about Sea Turtles. I want to have this one blown up to hang in the entryway to our home. This is very me and Captain John. See all the people that gather for these releases? It's very soul touching to say the least!

Favorite black and white of the week: Loved the pic of Jay Z, I centered my entire wordless Wednesday post around this picture on Wednesday. Did you guys notice I worked really hard and grouped and resized this week? I don't have one clue about Jay Z, except that he's married to Beyonce and doesn't allow her to talk about their relationship. I kinda have heard of that one New York song, but this is a fab, fab, fab picture. I have learned that when doing b & w photography for best results everything, clothes, props, must be black and white. Rule over at an online seminar was "When photographing black and white, photograph black and white." (Get it?)

Favorite new find: Mihaly Martins Here is just one more hot flash for the week:

Favorite dress from a favorite new blog I found:
Meet Emily from If I Can't Wear Heels.......I Don't Want To Go (how cute of a title is that?)
I love fashion, etiquette, cooking, the South, champagne, and decorating, Emily says about herself...
Our kinda girl right readers?

Arden B Rose Front Tube Dress

Favorite shoes of the week: In pictures not on my feet, Oscar de la Renta Spring 2010 line

This week's desktop background image:

Favorite quote of the week:
"She belongs among the wildflowers, she belongs somewhere she feels free." ~The Time Traveler's Wife (So Me Ya'll)

Favorite Home Decor photo and idea: Found over at Slumber Designs, Check out the whole post Jen did of all the really cool stairs.

So plans for the weekend. What are ya'll doing? The Bumpkin has done everyone else's taxes, but failed to do mine, so that's on my list. Maybe a sexy sunset cruise on the boat, with My Captain, and maybe a little spring clothes shopping.

Love,
The Bumpkin

A Bumpkin Find & A Gracious Giveaway

Remember me telling you on Friday about my favorite song lyrics...Those Rolling Stones lyrics are a great reminder in our tough economy right now. I always try to remember these lyrics, when I'm angry that I can't spend $250 for highlights these days. I sing them to myself while shopping even.
I was over at Etsy tooling around a couple of weeks ago, and look at the pendant I found at The Lyrical Lady shop.

Dating myself, I must say That's So Groovy!

I was so intrigued that I asked The Lyrical Lady where she came up with the idea, and I loved her reply:

The idea for Lyrical Lady and creating glass pendants with classic rock lyrics, came from my Mom. She is a huge Beatles and FleetwoodMac/Stevie Nicks fan. We had been admiring scrabble tile charms at a craft show and she commented how they were kind of small and that she would like one with a picture of Stevie Nicks and the lyrics from "Gypsy" So we discovered glass tiles through all the wonderful Etsy sellers and started making our pendants, and everytime I wore mine, I would get compliments and requests from people to make them one. So eventually Lyrical Lady was opened up on Etsy, and it has been a lot of fun!

For you Michael Jackson fans:

Then I discovered you can special order your favorite lyrics.
I asked The Lyrical Lady
which other lyrics had been special ordered, and here's a few things I never even considered till she mentioned.
I have made a few pendants with Bible verses, verses from poems, lyrics from songs I have never even heard of, and lines from movies. I did a custom order for a wedding where they ordered a different pendant for each bridesmaid and groomsman with an inside joke, it was pretty funny. I pretty much can create anything that has special meaning to someone. I joke that I am saving people lots of money because instead of getting their favorite song or quote as a tattoo, they can wear it around their neck for under ten bucks!

She suggests for the square tiles 10 words or less, or for the rectangular tiles like mine, 20 words or less. Remember the John Mayer quote I loved. "I believe that my life's gonna see, the love I give, return to me." 14 words, bingo. Can't wait to put my order in for this!
From Forever Young by Rod Stewart

You can even buy your choice of anchors for the pendant at The Lyrical Lady shop as well. I asked The Lyrical Lady herself which one was the most popular. And she replied:

My pendants are sold without a necklace but I offer several styles in my shop. My favorite for the square pendants is the silver plated ball necklace with the tiny 1.5mm balls. Another great look is the 18 1/2" black leather cord necklace, the rectangle style pendants look great on this. I started selling colored ball chain necklaces this year, and the black ones are very popular especially for men.

From one of the greatest songs ever written. I don't have to tell you from Imagine, by John Lennon, do I?

Love this one.....with the picture and the lyrics.

Good one from Love Is A Battlefield by Pat Benatar

I wore my pendant on a black cord with a red turtleneck on Friday, and everyone I met, had to read it, and raved about how "cool" it was. I was surprised with how many younger folks recognized the lyrics.

Here is a little about the lady behind this awesome shop.
My name is Lisa, I live in Missouri with my husband of 2 years, Mark, and 3 children. Jemma 19, Zach 15 and Gavin 21 months. I am currently a stay at home Mom, after years of working in banking as financial services rep. I love to read, cook, sew, all kinds of crafts, felt (both needle and wet felting), and garden, to name a few of my hobbies. I have 3 different Etsy shops right now, I am down from 4! My sister says I have Craft ADD, because I am always starting new crafts, and then moving on to the next thing that catches my fancy. I want to try everything! I believe in the power of positive thinking. Whether it be a meal for my family or an item I sold on Etsy, I always think warm happy thoughts to pass on to others.

Lyrical Lady Lisa was sweet enough to sponsor a giveaway here at the swing. One of you can have your favorite too! I have so many ideas for gifts, I will be keeping my shopping cart loaded over there. Since Lisa is sponsoring, anyone who reads has a chance. Visit The Lyrical Lady over at Etsy, and come back and tell me which one you want, or did you do your homework this weekend and come up with your own lyrics?
Again, old rules don't apply, visit the shop and leave a comment on this post to enter. Winner announced on Friday. Tell your readers about The Lyrical Lady and get two extra entries, but let me know the link to your post.

I'm Loving It!

Saw this dress in some engagement photos yesterday paired with cowboy boots.

Can this be done in Mississippi or do you think that look is just for mid-western ladies?

Tell me oh wise fashion divas...........

How could I put an island/beach spin on this plaid? We have so many seafood festivals, gumbo cookoffs, fishing rodeos, where we are forced to bake in the sun, I think this would be perfect for such an event. Cool, loose and breezy.

You can buy the reed shirtdress from Anthopologie for $118.00.

(Ya'll are going be so proud of me for this)

Here is the link to the dress!

I'm Loving It!

I received my new Pottery Barn catalog in the mail yesterday.
I have thought about this all night.
I will stick to my conservative shopping goals for this year, for as long as I possibly can, but if this little lovely goes on sale, to hell with it, it's mine.

Love this. My goal in home decor is to make my guests gasp. I especially love those quiet little gasps, that you have stand really close to hear. I find those are the most genuine of gasps. This is surely a gasp inducing item! What do you stylish ladies think?

You can buy it
here

Another item in the catalog I am loving is this beauty.

It also has the matching nightstands as well, but I think the whole set is a little too much. The one dresser piece, would be delightful, with a tall floor vase of sunflowers carefully arranged to reflect in the mirror, on dark hard wood floors, add a pair of sunshine yellow linen curtains, blowing in the breeze (think of the reflection again). Oh My, Ladies ( and that one guy who stopped by the other day!) Oh My!
This would not do well with the kiddos, or the dogs, however, you would forever be cleaning the handprints and nose prints, which would eventually break down the finish. A girl can dream, yes? You can buy the dresser
here,

Another couple of goodies that I'm loving new from Pottery Barn, include:

These come in a set of seven, and I could think of a million things to do with them:

And to leave you with:

This bar really fits me. I'm thinking with carefully color coordinated bottles. Oh My Oh My!
Sigh...........

If I Had $500

This would be mine.

We have done so much remodeling in our house, that it is a constant state of do-over.
Do over the office, do over the bedroom, do over the bathroom. One day though. when all of my do overs are done, I am going to have fabulous art work. I save a little for this each week. No since having fine art while you are painting, texturing, and sanding. Also, this budget includes lighting for the art, as the proper spotlights, can make or break the art in my opinion.

One of the things I love about you blogger buddies of mine, are the places you take me. One bloggy buddy took me to The Celebrity Vault recently.

Then this morning on One Kings Lane I logged in and what do I find. My latest fetish for sale. Wow, it's very tempting to say the least. This particular sell includes black and whites with pops of color. I'm loving it!

Rather than working today, get over and check it out.

Check out two artists in particular.

Bert Stein---Marilyn pics you may have never seen. I hadn't but some of you Big City girls are more worldly than The Bumpkin.

Also, Douglas Kirkland.

I'm putting a trip to this gallery on my bucket list.

Let me know what you think, and if you figure out how to steal the pictures of the site, let me know!

The Bumpkin

Minutes after the down and out Bumpkin posted the above post, I was notified that I am the winner of the Summer Giveaway over at The Landlocked Mermaid's. I go to the Mermaid for inspiration daily, she is one of those bloggers that just spreads the sunshine, and reminds us to do all the those things that keep us lovely. I just love this lady! Thanks Mermaid, I'm feeling better already! Now I have the blues, with a touch of pink and green.
Aren't ya'll jealous, look what I'm getting!

I'm Lovin It! No, Really Lovin It!

My intentions are not to be redundant. I know that I have more than once sung the praises of this woman here in this forum. Perhaps I should consider, changing the name of the blog to South Missisippi Reports on The Pioneer Woman, but just indulge me for one moment.
Because you will never believe what Ree has "gone and done now."

The Bumpkin had many plans for the weekend. Piles of laundry to load in the car and take to the laundry mat up the road, because my fancy Maytag broke AGAIN! Dolphins to watch, cooking, cleaning, paying bills, spending time with friends, blogging fabulous posts to generate 100 comments. None. of. it. was. done.
I was too busy hanging out here. That Pioneer Woman has done went and made us a myspace/facebook for cooks.

I have two pages of ingredients on my shopping list. Printed recipes laid out on the table, for My John to choose the order, in which I will recreate the multitude of masterpieces I have found.
Come on over and join me will you? I can't wait to see you all there, and I wish to covet your secret recipes. Pastor Ryan, Bakerella, Smitten Kitchen, they're all over there too. Just check my friend list. I had to stifle a squeal when the inbox read, "The Pioneer Woman has approved your friend request."
She's added really great features. Direct links back to your blog, a recipe box, because this way you can print as you go, or just leave them stored there.
The name is the same, Bumpkin On A Swing, make sure to friend request me once you get there.
Love,
The Baking Bumpkin
