The Hills vs. The City| A Fashion Showdown

Crank it if you can, let's enjoy a musical Diva moment shall we?

So tonight's the night everyone. The Hills and The City Season
Premiers. I love the fashion you see on these two shows. Some of the best on TV
IMO. If I were to show you these first two pictures only, what cast would you
say was the most fashionable?
The California Girls and Guys of The Hills

or The Lovely Ladies of The City? Psssttttt.... The City being of course America's fashion capital, New York City.

I think Whitney is wearing Jason Wu here see the feathers. Yep think
that's who that is, also great shoes on these ladies. Jus' saying!

Let's take a look at the cast themselves individually before we take a vote.
Up first The Hills Cast:

Heidi Montag, do you agree she looks much better without the hooch factor?

Audrina Partridge, the lost soul of The Hills, good thing they needed a brunette amongst all the blondes, or Hollywood would have already dropped her.

Kristin Cavallari, she's pretty, but I just don't like her. She's catty, and I don't care so much for catty.

Lo has that Hepburn factor in my book, but she's a Bitch. Sometimes being a bitch is what pays the bills, would love to experience Lo outside of this forum. I think she's also very intelligent, but not allowed to show that side of her. She does however look great in this photo.

And last but not least the Diva of The Hills, Lauren Conrad. First and foremost, this coat is a Fashion Orgasm for me. Secondly, you may say that Lauren is no longer the Diva of the Hills since she left the show. Wrong, she will always be The Hills, and you see they are facing their last season, a last grasp, without her. She was the smart one readers, you do realize she was the smart one right? Instead of splitting the profits with MTV she struck out on her own, to maximize the cut. Now it all goes to her, riding on MTV's coat tails. Without paying them royalties she brings home the bacon to herself, instead of them. Smart girl or management one of the two.

Lauren is on a book tour for her novel LA Candy. I bet it's not Nobel Prize material, but will I read it? Probably, hell she grew up on MTV, I'll read it out of curiosity if nothing else. This theory equals $$$$ in her pocket.
Here's Lauren Conrad's own line of clothing in Kohl's this spring. Affordable, the majority of the world is looking for affordable right now. Again another smart move.
This is boring in my opinion, but it's the worst of the line.

Love the color and the dress. But, LC is a shorty, and look where this dress hits her legs. Not sure about this on someone tall, for modesty reasons. It could be bunched at the waist to hit her in flattering way, we'll have to check it out. If you see it, grab a pic and send it to me will you?

Speaking of The Hepburn factor. Ummmmm, hummmmmm...She nailed it here! Beautiful and Affordable? Good pairing. Love the shoes. Classy, classy, classy.

Next Up, The Ladies of The City:

Olivia Palermo, one of my favorites, she has a way with glamour, and gives good face. By the way do you see her rocking the red shoes in the picture up above? I love this look. Textbook fashion, you go girl!

Erin Kaplan, she works for Elle, better come naturally this fashion thing. It does, look at her here. Work it girl, speaking of giving good face!

Roxy Olin, eh' just eh' for me.

The Super Diva of The City, formerly of The Hills, Whitney Port.

I've always liked Whitney, she doesn't like the drama amongst all the other women, and I really respect her for that. Whitney's dream is to design her own line and see it on the runway. Chanel purse, do you see the Chanel.

Guess what, wishes and dreams granted Whitney, you'll see this on this season of The City. Whitney Eve is the name of her line. Here's my thoughts.

That's a lota lame', but it's okay. Whitney is working The City circuit, and well fashion is just different in New York.

I like this, it's cute.

Alterations Emergency here, please remove that tacky lace thing around the neckline, and it would save this piece.


Very, Very New York. Maybe even a little too New York for my taste.

Super preppy, not for me, but maybe some of you other ladies will like it. Preppy Pink girls, do tell!

Eh? Doesn't do much for me.

I really liked Lauren's collection better than Whitney's plus these price tags are 3 figures before the dot. Lauren's is affordable, something I think we are all attracted to.

Alright, no spoilers please tomorrow, I have to get caught up with last season before I can watch these. I may sneak a little peak at the fashion tonight though. Probably will, yep I will, warn The Captain. He hates these two shows.

Update coming on the oil spill in a little while. They are trying something and I want to see how it works.

It Ain't Looking Good

The latest update: We are where the red star is on the map.


The oil is escaping from two leaks in a drilling pipe about 5,000 feet below the surface. The leaks threaten hundreds of miles of coastline in four states, with waters that are home to dolphins, sea birds, and prime fishing and tourism areas.


If crews cannot stop the leak quickly, they might need to drill another well to redirect the oil, a laborious process that could take weeks while oil washes up along a broad stretch of shore, from the white-sand beaches of Florida's Panhandle to the swamps of Louisiana. We are direct center of the two locations.


As of Monday afternoon, an area 48 miles long and 39 miles wide (TWICE AS BIG AS YESTERDAY YA'LL) was covered by oil that leaked from the site of the rig, which was owned by Transocean Ltd. and operated by BP PLC. The rig is pumping approximately 42,000 gallons of oil a day, into the Gulf. The 32 skim boats are able to skim about 11,000 gallons of an oily watery mix a day at maximum. 1/2 oil, 1/2 water equals about 5,500 gallons a day. Can you do the math? 13% of what is being pumped into the Gulf. To make matters worse the skim boats have not been able to work the entire weekend due to weather conditions being unsafe after all those bad storms we had.


The U.S. spill, moving slowly north and spreading east and west, was about 30 miles from the Chandeleur Islands off the Louisiana coast Tuesday. The National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration said oil would not reach the coast for several days. The Coast Guard said kinks in the pipe were helping stem the flow of oil.


Officials say there will be no shoreline impact from an oil leak in the Gulf of Mexico for at least another three days.

Sperm whales have been spotted in the oil, they do not appear to be in distress at this time, but there is no real way to determine this. There are grave concerns, and measures are being taken to protect the wildlife in these areas.

It is likely to destroy the beaches for an extended period of time,once it reaches shore.

It's like a hurricane out there brewing, and we are just waiting to see where it hits. I am heartbroken, it's nesting season for the turtles, mating season for the dolphins, and these whales are pumping oil through their bodies.

I will keep you updated, our tourism and fishing is our livelihoods here. Please say a prayer for the people who depend on these industries to feed their families, especially the oyster harvesters. Like the other animals, this will effect the oysters for years.

Without fishing, I will need you all to rotate shifts babysitting the Captain. Makes me sick, makes me sick. My dolphins............

Getting To Know You

It's shaping up to be a crazy week for me. So, I thought it might be a good time to get you all more involved. Now this is not one of those "ask me anything" posts. I've told you before, that ain't happening here. There are some things that simply need to remain a mystery here in bloggy land, besides I know some of you all to well, and I ain't being the brunt of your questioning.

Captain John is Sliding Through An Oil Spill

Mornin'
Our flounder don't need butter this week it's covered in oil, due to the oil spill we will be serving blackened fish all types.
Oyster reefs closed, shrimping grounds closed, commercial fishing grounds closed, recreational fishing grounds closed. Damnit, first Katrina, then the poor economy, and now this. This is our livelihood here.
Say a little prayer for birds out at Chandeleur Islands.
I gave you the two shots above so you can see how bad Chandeleur (best fishing in The Gulf) is being affected. Use us marked to keep your bearings straight.
This morning's paper says the spill is 20x times bigger than yesterday, and it's 25 square miles now, and it has been confirmed that the rig is still leaking oil. BP has 32 oil skimming vessels out there right now.

As I am typing this post, this latest update was broadcast on our news.
The US Coast Guard has confirmed that this rig is leaking 100,000 barrels (over 5 millions gallons) of oil a day into the Gulf, to top it off BP has claimed that they have skimmed almost 1100 barrels of oily water, (about 500 barrels of actual oil), less than 1%, so far. You do the math, after you go buy gas right now. The media is misleading us terribly here, no indications where the oil spill is right now. Shhh Top Secret, umph smells fishy to me. We are going to try and attempt find this out today.
As a first responder my concerns are the wildlife at Chandeleur Islands, half way between the rigs and us, a strong southernly wind will either push the oil spill onto the barrier islands, or send it toward the Alabama Coast, or The Florida Coast. Got plans to go to the Redneck Rivera (Orange Beach/Gulf Shores/Perdido Beach)? Might wanna keep an eye on this.
Where's the DAWN boat when you need it? They are missing alot of great advertising opportunities right now here. You've seen the ad on the side of the bottles right?
Earth Day week and all, they are missing the boat.

Friday's Fabulous Favorites

Some of you have emailed to ask if we have been effected by the explosion of the oil rig in The Gulf of Mexico. We felt it, and I thought it was either this, or a rocket test at NASA, but yes it is effecting us, here's a quick breakdown, before I get on to Friday's Favorites.

This is during daylight still burning so you can see just what's it's like. One of My John's favorite fishing spots, he's there all the time, the big one's hang out by the rigs. None of the 11 workers on the rig at the time of the explosion have been found. We didn't expect them to be. Part of living on the coast, and having men in the water. All of our friends have been accounted for. Please send one up for those who are never coming home.

The oil spill is heading our way, all kinds of emergency boats are doing what they can from letting this happen, but we still don't know. There is a storm brewing that's not helping much. See the peace symbol up there, that's us! I did some fancy work in picnik this morning!

It's looking good for now, but we are very worried about the oil spill reaching our beach. John and I are concerned about the cranes and pelicans especially. Emergency animal rescue are on standby, and monitoring the situation, and John will be out on the water over the weekend should we need to do anything to help.

I just have one little thing to tell you before I get started, My Captain John came to visit me at work today. He brought me lunch, and we had a picnic in the truck.
So while he was here, I showed him this diamond and black diamond ring I have been stalking. He said it was very classy. And, then he bought it for me. Not bad for a Bumpkin, uh? I have drooled over black diamonds for many months now, and I'm super excited to be sporting this one. I swung a deal for after work tonight. (wink wink)!

Pink and Green Earth Day Thursday

I'm not here to harp, I promise, I'm here to nudge, me included. Even though I don't have children, I want to leave it better than I found it.

It's not something one person can change, it's not. It's gonna take a whole bunch of us to do it.

Had to slide a little fashion in here, made from trash this dress. Not bad! Do you recycle?

If you don't will you try? Guess what, I don't and I would love to lie to you about this, but I just don't, but I'm gonna change.

Imagine how happy I was to find this picture of a lady with a recycle bucket wearing pink and green. Score!

Imagine a world without flowers, just plastic ones. Ewwwwwwww.......


We have to stop using plastic bags, cups and bottles. We really, really do. It's tough I know, but we have to stop, we can do this readers right?



Do you know how many of these cute little bags I have bought, yet I still use the plastic ones. I am going to change this, I am so ashamed, especially claiming to be such a sea turtle activist. See it's not just you.

Do you know what a carbon footprint is? Do you really? Come on don't lie. I didn't for a long time and just pretended I did.

Your carbon footprint is the sum of all emissions of CO2 (carbon dioxide), which were induced by your activities in a given time frame. Usually a carbon footprint is calculated for the time period of a year.

It's has nothing to do with cute shoes.

I carpool to reduce my carbon footprint, but this is another cute little pink option.

Ever played in the rain when you were having a bad day? What if our rain was toxic from the pollution? What a difference that would make in our lives. Brings a whole new meaning to Oh crap it's raining.



I believe that the Ocean and it's dwellers are some of the best that our Earth has to offer. Come go for a early Sunday morning dolphin cruise with me, and I'll show you why I feel this way.

A subject near and dear to both my heart and Captain John's is ocean pollution. Why would someone dump waste in the water? That water belongs to other inhabitants far more magnificent than humans. Geez this is a no brainer, but you would be sick to see how often it's done.


Don't throw your trash in the ocean, protect the wildlife please. And if you do, you better not let My Captain see you. That's trouble! In Bumpkin land this is referred to as "writing a check your ass can't cash."



Use environmental friendly cleaning products. I buy Method at Target or Lowes. They clean great and smell super wonderful, it's a little something we can do right?

I promised not to harp on you, but can I just say, people let's Go Green. Read here to find out how.


Read here how to stop global warming, or these guys will be gone by 2075. That's a long time, who cares right, we won't be here. Let me strengthen the impact. Food supply in 2010 for polar bears was 60% less than in 2000. Now do you feel the impact? Will we stand by and watch them starve into non-existence, or we will do something? Anything, just please let's do something.


Animals can do nothing to change their environment, they are helpless. We are not, readers, there is something that we can do. Even if you do just something small it's a contribution. Can I count on a committment from you of something small. I committ to unplugging all appliances in my house that aren't used regularly, and unplugging my electronic device chargers, when they are not actually charging the device. Okay that's two, but I really feel the need to contribute. Sad thing is we all need to, and we all don't. Make sense readers?

Finally, I can't let Earth Day pass by, without reminding every one, about one thing that should be a priority for every living earth inhabitant.

Our world needs peace.

Have you forgotten about our troops over there fighting for our freedom? Most people have, the papers never print the statistics anymore, the yellow ribbons are gone, the drives to send care packages are pratically non-existent. The only thing that remains strong, and focused are every woman and man in uniform there defending our country, who aren't home with the people they love. They my friends are stronger than we will ever know. Send one up for them today, will you?
