It's hotter than the day Sherman burned Atlanta in southern Mississippi today.
The old folks in our community always say that the really hot summers bring these!
I'll know for sure when the banana spiders come out.
In the bayou of Louisiana they predict hurricane strength by the numbers of crawfish they pull in each day. Good crops, bad news!
Just before Katrina, we had a huge banana spider build a huge intricate web near our front porch. When she hit, John brought him inside to the utility room, and he built another.
This past year, when Ike threatened us, another one showed up and built his web near the swing. These webs are thick and strong webs. The strangest thing. Ike passed by us in the gulf, headed toward Louisiana/Texas. The next morning the spider was gone.
It's not always super wonderful to live on the Gulf of Mexico. Heat and Hurricanes.
That's the worst of it.
In recent posts I have shown you a little of of my town, and that's going to continue.
Heat and Hurricanes aside, I still love this place!

Heat and hurricanes...and SCARY BIG SPIDERS!
I can't believe you let that spider in your house! I would surely die! :) Agreed on life on the gulf. There's a price to pay for paradise.
